Team – Emergency Phone Numbers Page Set Up
Gil KC2WCB and I had an extended conversation with Ken KD2DZZ after the Suffolk County Radio Club Rag Chew Net on 12/17/14. First I’d like to say thanks to Ken for joining our team. I am sure his expertise in Rescue Services will become a huge asset to the team.
Ken explained that his Ambulance Service has been discussing the addition of Amateur Radio equipment to their Headquarters. Since that’s the case, we spoke at some length how ACT might provide secondary communications under certain conditions.
Ken asked how the ACT Team might provide assistance to the Medford Ambulance Company. Gil and Ken then discussed a scenario where an Ambulance on call may need to be re-routed due to downed wires or trees, blizzard conditions, etc. Gil stated that ACT could pass “up to the minute” routing information over to the Ambulance via Headquarter’s Amateur Radio equipment.
Ken, Gil and I went on to discuss the possibility of approaching the Medford Ambulance Company and possibly other Ambulance Companies in the area with a short presentation to demonstrate how ACT may fit in.
Finally, Ken and I spoke about local, State and Federal Emergency Contact numbers. Ken stated that he would provide the team with an extensive list of emergency numbers. I received the list and began reviewing it. At this point I have started a new page of emergency numbers. It will take some time to get through Ken’s extensive list.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Emergency Phone Numbers. Why not print out copies for your vehicles, kitchen drawer, Ham Shack, etc.
