The Amateur Radio Communications Team has joined forces with the Lighthouse Mission.
One of our long standing Team Members and fellow Amateur Radio operator Tony Gazzola KB2VZG was a huge asset to the Bellport, East Patchogue communities and the Lighthouse Mission.
Tony had done so much for his community it would be impossible to put it into words. If you’d like to read more about this amazing man, visit “Doing God’s Work” posted at the Long Island Advance.
Our Team now collects clothing and donations for the Mission. Samantha Riso, our community Health and Welfare Coordinator has recently started a program to collect funds to purchase personal items for the homeless.
If you would like to donate $10 toward this cause, please contact the ACT Team by email. Every dollar of your donation will be used to help people in our communities.
This is a really exciting event because it is a chance to spend some time on a boat with some really nice people in the Great South Bay.
If you are interested contact John Melfi W2HCB via Email (email@example.com).
On Monday, June 19th at 6:30pm, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker will host a FREE Emergency Preparedness Training at the Longwood Public Library (800 Middle Country Road, Middle Island).
The program will give residents of all ages the tools and resources they need to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible. Free Emergency Starter Kits will be given to each household upon successful completion of the training.
“As we begin to enter hurricane season, it is important that all residents are prepared for different types of storms and emergency situations,” said Legislator Anker. “I encourage residents to participate in this emergency training program to learn how to respond accordingly to a multitude of situations.”
All participants must register in advance. You can register online by visiting http://www.prepare.ny.gov and clicking “Training Events” or you can call Legislator Anker’s office at 631-854-1600.
